It is just another camera app that will add filters to a picture on the fly, at least on iPhone. There are dozens of such applications, even on Android. Maybe it has something to do with how the sharing works for Instagram, it is quite popular. With celebrities and their followers, it is no wonder that the app is popular on iPhone. Now that it is available on Android, the Geeks and the poor can stalk their favorite celebrities on an equal footing.
Sharing on Instagram
Most companies invest heavily on the viewing experience of images. Instagram, on the other hand has made very little effort to do that. They have allowed sharing of pictures to Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Tumblr. But there are no online galleries where you can view all the pictures, even the ones you have taken. The only place you can see gallery is on phone. For sharing, each picture has its own permalink.
